December 30, 2007 10:50 pmMy nephews and I made this StarWars fan film over the holidays. I seem to be falling into these opportunities every time I go on vacation now… and I sure do like it.
Admittedly this one is not quite as refined as my last StarWars fan film… but it was just as much fun. I was only an actor this time, Rebel Soldier #2. My nephews Liam and Hunter Gallagher composed the rest of the crew, they wrote it, directed it, shot it, and edited it. I fixed a couple of things here and there and made my professional / super amateur suggestions. Once again I am humbled by the power of the collaborative film making process… by making this little film it changed our whole relationship and enriched the family time immensely. 10 year olds can make a movie in HD with no budget… and they can do it much faster than a bunch of pros with all of our technical problems and issues. When you don’t know how anything is done you really get the full enjoyment of amateur play… I was almost jealous of their ability to just create with a couple simple tools and few simple ideas.
