No mercy for the distracted…

I looked away for 2 seconds, but that was just enough time to have my hours of rubixing completely undone. Paul felt terrible once I explained to him how hard I had worked to get it to the point of complete solution except for the top layer.

But it was too late, the damage had been done…

The cool thing is this, and I am trying to realize this in all sorts of ways in my life, the purpose is not in the arrival but the journey. I really did enjoy the process of trying to solve that confounded cube, it was fun in a whimsical self forgetful kind of way. I should do more things like that, not because it will be great when it is done, but just because I enjoy it… and I really don’t even feel the need to explain myself to anyone. Dan has recently started giving me some impromptu guitar lessons, hopefully I will find the same joy in trying to figure out where my fingers go to make D major for the 10,000th time. Paul may have destroyed all of my hard work in just a moment, but his friendship is totally worth it…

Then I thought of this song, which is just an awesome encouragement…

Anyway
People are often unreasonable, illogical,
and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, People may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some
false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone
could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway
